Never in history has a nation’s self-congratulatory martial exaggerations so exceeded the reality as the USA’s. From print media through Hollywood to video games the deluge of masturbatory fantasy threatens to swamp any realistic popular understanding of even recent wars. The embarrassing facts are that the US has no great achievements in the field of combat - zero. As a people they have never exhibited what might be called the martial virtues. Nothing on the scale of Roman, French, British, German or Russian achievements - and that is just looking at Western peer cultures. The only time Americans have ever defeated a redoubtable enemy (as opposed to easy-beats such as the Mexicans during the theft of the most valuable part of their country) is by the use of overwhelming firepower. Whether it be the Native Americans, the Japanese or the Vietnamese, on any occasion when their enemies had anything like comparable firepower they got whupped. Never mind an army like the Wehrmacht or much less the Waffen SS. (Neither of which they fought in any serious numbers as they were fighting for the life of Germany on the Russian Front). It is tiresome how in novel after novel and movie after movie they win all the battles - but historically they never won the war. The way the word “warriors” is used as if they were the Spartans at Thermopylae or the Old Guard at Waterloo or Caesar’s Tenth Legion is laughable. Where are the great achievements other than on the big screen? Battle of the Bulge - give us a break!! Grenada? Fallujah? Hmmm … best we don’t even mention that one …
Firepower is a function of economic productive capacity and no doubt the US has achieved incredible things in this field, though now being overtaken by others. But firebombings, atomic bombings or lowly lieutenants having the authority to call in multi-million dollar airstrikes for no significant tactical or strategic benefit do not reflect martial qualities like perseverance in adversity, and having the stomach for a fight to the end. Such as was common among Japanese soldiers subject to days and weeks of massive naval and aerial bombardments of their island bases before the Marines “stormed” the beaches to face the last remnants of half-crazy but still courageous resistance.
Led by politicians in uniform rather than true Generals, the US military has disgraced itself times beyond number with civilian massacres and cowardly engagements with real soldiers such as the Vietnamese.
That is their true “military” history and no wonder they have to make up imaginary versions of what happened for the shame of it. The true type of the US soldier is more like John McCain than John Wayne - the fictional John Wayne, that is, the real John Wayne made damn sure he never went anywhere near a real two-way shooting gallery.

LMAO. Such a sweet little libertard. Did you leanr all those big words in the poof school your mommy paid for? Guessing you never worked a real day in your life. True, the vietnam war, or indo-chinese war was wrong, and fully the fault of france. The NVA and VC were freedom fighters, but the US soldiers didnt go there by choice and fought with as much honor and bravery as the communists. However, before you US bash, consider the US cannot compete withe the brutality and torture that basically every other country in the worldhas committed. UK, France, Germany, Russia, China, Korea, Japan and every african country committed a 1000 times more war crimes than the US ever could. Next time you want to insult someone, leave your moms basement for a bit and learn about the world.
