Hanson is tough to figure. I kind of like that he grew up in a small town of California’s central valley. I’m from that neck of the woods too. He has some good writings on a few things and then can sound like he has read too many issues of Foreign Policy magazine echoing the consensus of Washington Republicans.
He’s correct that Trump’s popularity came from someone finally addressing issues important to the white working class but everyone knows that. A far more interesting book would have been on how little Trump got done for them.
