If you were gonna rob a bank and you saw the vault door there, left open, what would you do? Would you wait around?
Ever since he was a kid, kicking broken soccer balls on the run-down streets of East London, Gary Stevenson dreamed of something bigger. As luck would have it, he was good at numbers.
At the London School of Economics, wearing tracksuits and sneakers, Stevenson shocked his posh classmates by winning a competition called “The Trading Game.” The prize? A golden ticket to a new life, as the youngest trader at Citibank. A place where you could make more money than you’d ever imagined. Where your colleagues are dysfunctional geniuses and insecure bullies yet start to feel like family. Where against the odds you become the bank’s most profitable trader, closing deals worth nearly a trillion dollars. A day.
Soon you are dreaming of numbers in your sleep—and then you stop sleeping at all. But what happens when winning starts to feel like losing? You’re making a killing betting on millions of people becoming poorer—like the very people you grew up with. The economy is slipping off a precipice, and your own sanity starts slipping with it. You want to stop, but you can’t. Because nobody ever leaves.
Would you stick, or quit? Even if it meant risking everything?
The Trading Game is an outrageous, unvarnished, white-knuckle journey to the dark heart of an intoxicating world—the trading floor—from someone who survived the game and then blew it all wide open.

“You’re making a killing betting on millions of people becoming poorer” as read above.capitalism! So some people became rich some poor.By the way, how did it turn out for the people trapped in Russian Communism? Was’nt it no chance of becoming rich and 90,000,000 dead? huh seems simple

Thanks for the great upload. Just ignore the others who weirdly try to make some anti communism screed in defence of capitalism.

Darkmayo I came from his TikTok, the author doesn’t necessarily seems to be a lefty, he just sees the inequality and brokenness of the system. Some people just got brainwashed by McCarthyrism and can’t seem to remember that the cold war finish 3 decades ago.

Gary Stevenson doesn’t see politics as some kind of football game - there’s rich people and poor people - and right now the rich people are hoovering up all of our assets like housing. It’s very simple.
It has nothing to do with Karl Marx or Vladimir Lenin.

Gary doesn’t argue for socialism or communism. It’s a fake straw argument that if you don’t like the current system, you will get a Soviet Russia. Gary argues that the capitalistic societies in the 50s, 60s and 70s were allowing for the distirbution of assets more equally, and that led to the biggest boom in living standards and a healthy middle class. We’re no longer like this, and a middle class income family can barely afford a home, retirement or education for their kids. We’re moving to the capitalistic society of the times of Charles Dickens. Dickens disapproved of unchecked capitalism. Gary does the same.
