Sexual revolution in the Arab world? Good luck with that.

If change is going to come in the Arab world, it will either be driven by women demanding their rights or by the wholesale collapse of petro-dollars propping up the welfare state.
Let’s hope it is the former.

Population-wise, the future seems to be substantially in their favour (from 1.6 billion in 2010 to nearly 2.8 billion in 2050). Frank Herbert seems to have been correct about that interesting interstellar imperium. Surveys of those living in Britain & elsewhere tend to indicate that social attitudes do not really alter, despite living in a different milieu. Indeed, sometimes beliefs will actually intensify if there is a perception of challenge (pressure to change) from a prevailing culture.
