The 1980s was a decade of change for many countries, but for Great Britain, it could be considered radical. The economic transformation of Britain during that period bears the indelible mark of Margaret Thatcher and her policies.
In this Audible Original, Professor Amy Edwards takes you through the life and leadership of Margaret Thatcher. See how she went from being a shopkeeper’s daughter who lived above her parent’s corner shop to holding Britain’s top job and earning a reputation as one of the most influential politicians of the 20th century.
In addition, Professor Edwards considers just how revolutionary the social, economic, and political changes overseen by Thatcher’s government really were and the effects they had on the daily lives of Britons of all ages and classes. And she concludes with Thatcher’s contentious fall from power, showing how, even after the end of her premiership, “Thatcherism” continued to live on under her successors.

A legendary woman.

Utterly appalling woman, devoid of any sort of empathy.

Excellent Woman, How many terms was she re-elected? How many people voted time and time again to re-elect her? I think that says more for both her character and her personality. I had the HONOUR of meeting her several times, And honoured I was. Nor did I have any hesitation to take up arms when she called.
Deano95 Says divisive, Had he met her? I doubt it.
fozgon. says Vile human being - But can’t think of a reason
Grumpy1952 says devoid of empathy, He wasn’t there to see her cry over the bombing Brighton or when her son went missing at sea.
Alansmithee99 and Deano95 say burn in Hell. (Which shows their character speaking ill of the dead. (And a woman that fought for the downtrodden masses against the upper-classes.)
She is hated because she refused to pay £2 a day for 1/4 pint of milk for the children to the Milk Marketing Board when Milk was £1 fo 4 pints. Instead she stopped the payments and gave the money to the parents. How disgusting!
She allowed those on the dole, to start their own businesses and be allowed to keep claiming the dole for a full year until their businesses took off, She refused to stop their money because they wanted to work.
She allowed the poor to buy their own council houses instead of paying rent in perpetuity.
What an Evil Person - stealing wealth from the rich to spread it among the poor. But No! Feel free to spout the propaganda of the rich whilst they rebuilt their empires, overturning all the benefits she bestowed to the masses. After all - they wouldn’t lie about her!
She was a great woman and a terrific leader. I am so sorry if the fact she was not male upsets your ego’s. An upstart grammar school kid who lived in a corner shop in the poorest part of the country. How dare she become prime minister several times in a row.
Thank you for this book. Hopefully it tells the truth and dispels the falsehoods spouted by her pathetic rivals who could not oust her from power, only use their money invested in the tabloids to poison the simpler minds…

Disgusting human being who sold the world for a handful shakels. May she burns in her forever. No stars whatsoever. Why should they create courses about a neoliberal ghoul?

Lol, It about Margaret Thatcher, not your mother. AND hard for most to understand, The stars are for the Upload quality, NOT for the book’s contents or subject. It’s Hard to believe that over 30 million people voted her in time after time, out of 54 Million (at the time). Vote someone in hows a crap weasel, you get rid of them first chance, Ask Boris or Trump. But to be voted in “9″ times from 1959 and become not only the first female Prime Minister but to become the longest-serving British prime minister of the 20th century. Well I think records state more than the crap spread about her afterwards. Even during her leadership we had the Scargills, and Maxwells trying to make out she was a demon. Only people who come out with the crap against her are those who were not born or lived during the 60’s and 70’s suffered the power cuts, bins not emptied and rats running in the streets. Have zero chance of further education, low wages etc., etc., The unions ran the country, They decide who could work, and when we could work. The government were their paid puppets. Then we got a woman that wouldn’t take a bribe, who put two fingers up the correct way to the narcissists. She wasn’t a Boris, selling off peerages and lying. In fact, NOT ONCE was she ever accused of that accepted trait amongst today’s politicians. If Maggie said she would do something, she did it. Never a false promise for an election win.
