Let’s see: If a person has sometimes in life possibly experimented to a degree something that isn’t strictly heterosexual in nature - it is of course LGBT.
I do understand that people create art through their personality, experiments and cultural upbringing.
But. This branding of books and persons as some fringe sexual oddities by whatever lame reasons, is vomit inducing. I don’t necessarily mean Lou Reed, but artists and celebrities in general.

I dunno, ill, aren’t the keywords and categories merely an attempt to assist in locating works that might be of interest to the searcher? As for Lou, wasn’t the “B” in LGBT a major part of his life and work? We shouldn’t be excessively judgy about “fringe sexual oddities” p’haps.
In any event, Lou, speaking during the 1980s, decried the contemporary political apathy of young ‘uns, particularly in regard to South African Apartheid: “Man, if there was Apartheid back in the 60s, we woulda been on the ******’ streets, man!” His genius did not, unfortunately, extend to history.
Or maybe he couldn’t rightly remember the 60s.

I understand that there is persecution against sexual minorities, but if we enjoy the actual art, we don’t imo need to know in details who’s buttf***ing who, now do we?

“All men by nature desire to know” who’s, er, doing what. And to whom. I think that’s what Aristotle meant.
Butt, of course, it is “Lou Reed: A Life” - not “illodiini: Freezing in His Viking Garden” - it’s necessarily about the man, his life, times, loves, what motivated him. The man “behind” the music. Inside & out.
