Don’t agree with the world view, but she did manage to escape Soviet Russia, one of the most evil ideologies in hx, & this is presumably what she was reacting to in her work. She was never able to get her family out of Russia.

Yes, abb. AR was so right! I’ve watched it happen all around me. Let the weak bring the strong to their knees, cripple industry, strike, demand, plunder, sabotage, drive out capitalists, investors, industry, and then riot, scream, demand jobs!!! money!!! Best way to bankrupt a country and bring it to the brink of destruction. You have to have lived it and you’ll know what Ayn Rand was talking about. The day comes when Atlas shrugs. And leaves. For greener pastures.

I believe that even her fans should read this book. I like the Atlas Shrugged book very much. But as a philosopher, there are definitely significant criticisms against her.

It’s funny how people ridicule and demean a woman who lived thru such personal tragedy, her family destroyed, their livelihood taken away. No one person is so often misquoted or misunderstood than Ayn Rand. Sometimes willfully and most times ignorantly.And all of it for saying you shouldn’t be cocerced into being altruistic. You can if you choose, but you shouldn’t force anyone, and you shouldn’t be forced either.

But Ayn Rand deserves more respect. After listening to the book completely, I realized that the correct method for criticism was not chosen. It is not appropriate to attack a prominent writer and philosopher in such a rude manner.
