A progressive takedown of the uber-capitalist status quo that has enriched millionaires and billionaires at the expense of the working class, and a blueprint for what transformational change would actually look like
It’s OK to be angry about capitalism. Reflecting on our turbulent times, Senator Bernie Sanders takes on the billionaire class and speaks blunt truths about our country’s failure to address the destructive nature of a system that is fueled by uncontrolled greed and rigidly committed to prioritizing corporate profits over the needs of ordinary Americans.
Sanders argues that unfettered capitalism is to blame for an unprecedented level of income and wealth inequality, is undermining our democracy, and is destroying our planet. How can we accept an economic order that allows three billionaires to control more wealth than the bottom half of our society? How can we accept a political system that allows the super rich to buy elections and politicians? How can we accept an energy system that rewards the fossil fuel corporations causing the climate crisis? Sanders believes that, in the face of these overwhelming challenges, the American people must ask tough questions about the systems that have failed us and demand fundamental economic and political change. This is where the path forward begins.
It’s OK to Be Angry About Capitalism presents a vision that extends beyond the promises of past campaigns to reveal what would be possible if the political revolution took place, if we would finally recognize that economic rights are human rights, and if we would work to create a society that provides a decent standard of living for all. This isn’t some utopian fantasy; this is democracy as we should know it.

Prediction for the future… incorrect information rant from someone who believes pizza joints are trafficking fronts will say something unhinged below. Please, world, prove me wrong 🤞

I mean a lot of his positions are moderate if you take the terms etc. out…
Why are do we pay way more for older standardized drugs than other nations?
Why do we pay way more for the same quality healthcare compared to other rich countries?
Why should we let companies create monopolies and increases prices to their products when they make it so that no one can compete with them in the free market?
All these are sensible things “moderate” people should be fixing but haven’t. So over time, it gets worse and worse and you need to do more to fix it.
He is essential saying He wants this country to go from 93% Captialist to 85% Capitalist. It will be better off for the majority of people besides the super rich and those trying to create monopolies to make easy money without doing the work of continually innovating.

@Soundmusic….Very well put. Now if the “right” half of the country would get their head on straight we may be able to make some progress.

Why should I work hard if I get the same reward anyway?
February 24th, 2023
Damn… It was looking so good there until ⬆️🙄

@Soundmusic
What you say sounds completely reasonable… However, you, much like Bernie suffer from the problem of misdiagnosing the ailments. The symptoms are easy to spot, the problem is generally not skin deep.

Dean . . . lol . . . you’re such a tooool

Thanks for uploading this!
@ockymofo
FWIW - Sanders seems to be much more reasonable on some of this previously hard line positions (in this book and in general recently). Bizarre when you consider most politicians seem to be more extreme and more partisan than ever. Maybe it’s age or maybe it is him finally relenting that entrenched BS isn’t going to allow for a sea change in politics… but his recent interview about the Senate health committee had him explaining some very reasonable goals. Making a handful of small fixes for big improvements but acknowledging (sadly) that there is no way anyone can get the votes or power needed to outright fix the U.S.’s expensive, crappy healthcare.

@poff you are being rewarded far less for working hard in the USA than in any other so called Western country (and a lot of non-Western ones as well).

Rich man complains about capitalism while selling a book

Democracy works ok, capitalism only for a few.

Politics is (well, ought to be) the art of compromise.

Zero respect for someone who has lived off the people’s dime his whole career, is hell-bent on telling us how capitalism is bad yet has managed to make a fortune thanks to it. Sure drug prices would ideally be lower, and yes monopolies are bad, but get past that and the rest of what this guy wants is just bad for the country. He isn’t left, he’s far left, and gets as much respect as the little squad of rabble gets, none.

I have more respect for a Crack Addicted Whore than Bernie the BSer. Socialism is for stupid, weak, and of low IQ people.
Communism, Socialism and Nazism are one and the same. It’s all a matter of degree of control, murder and torture od its people.

Lol. Once again a Leftist tract is re-upped when people mock the low quality of the offering.
Bernie Sanders owns 3 homes, hardly a stinging rebuke of capitalism that.
Secondly and more importantly, this is a man who sold out his own voters to preserve the uniparty of Washington politics, you’d have to be an abject clown to believe a word he says ever again. I appreciate, this is, perhaps, too high a bar for the average leftist but everyone else should sail over it.

I respect Bern’s right to hold 3 houses (& his potential adverse possession of several more). Everyone likes a change of scene & different places to crash. Stalin himself had a nifty domus in the Moscow suburbs in which to abide, in addition to a lovely pied-à-terre in town, w his offices as well.
Also, he had a nice villa built in the hills overlooking the Black Sea, aka Stalin’s dacha.
Altogether, he maintained about 20 different summer residences or dachas, mostly around Black Sea coast. He used the large building complex in Sochi only rarely. However, it was always staffed & running just in case the Man of Steel made a surprise visit, covered in blood.
Moreover, timsikes is right - why is there only one Monopolies Commission? There’s something missin’!

quote: ‘Communism, Socialism and Nazism are one and the same.’
You’d have to be ’stupid, weak, and of low IQ’ to believe that.
Oh. That’s right….

Hitler? That nasty fella also had 3 residences: the Old Chancellery in Berlin; his Munich apartment; & Haus Wachenfeld (later the Berghof), his mountain home in the Obersalzberg of the Bavarian Alps near Berchtesgaden, Bavaria. You could also throw in the Wolfsschanze, or “Wolf’s Lair” - his HQ in East Prussia. He also had a smelly bunker.
So far, Bern is in third place, with Stalin leading the house race.

Capitalism definitely needs a major overhaul, all the poor and homeless people, vs the few very wealthy only prove that. But socialism will only turn us into another Russia or China, which amazes me how clueless so many far left brain washed libtards are about what socialism does. And this book, coming from someone who made millions from capitalism is laughable.
But money only benefits very few, and needs to have major changes to it.

‘I’m very angry I only have three mansions, damm you capitalism’… Not my politics but he seems like a grifter…

Why should be be happy about famines created by the communists like the holodomor ? or the Cambodian genodide or the sardinist genocide ?
strange that he is not in favor of being angry against collectivism.

Good one!

Yes… a government centered healthcare system (like they have in most of the developed world) automatically leads to communist genocide.
