  I wouldn’t have thought Jeremy capable of a “ruthless plot” or a cunning plan. Or sequential, logical thought, for that matter. He never seems to know his Marxist ass from his fascist elbow. Perhaps he’s lulling everyone into a false sense of indifference. But yeah, he does seem quite sleazy. Thanks, not.

  TBH I’ve probably been putting-off reading this book for too long already. I find Bower distressingly patchy as a commentator, but at his best he (Branson, Maxwell) he can be coruscatingly brilliant.
  I would guess, though, that everybody interested in British politics needs to know more about Jeremy Corbyn, and most people interested in European politics. People in the US have more serious issues to deal with.
  For those who see Corbyn as some king of a joke, I would remind them that both Tony Blair (’bambi’) and Margaret Thatcher (’milk snatcher’) were also made fun of by the people they were about to roll over.

  I find Corbyn mildly confused, as he should made up his mind about Brexit. Otherwise his so-called socialism means, imnsho, that he isn’t there to make his billionare buddies even richer.

  Excellent point, illodiini, his indecision & befuddlement over Brexit at one of the pivotal points in his country’s history could have disastrous social & economic consequences for decades. It will benefit some in the “boss” class, however (just ask Jacob).
  Oh well, he’ll likely make up his mind when it’s far too late.

  It’s depressing how he and his repulsive colleagues have turned a once-great party into an antisemitic/racist slum. Many of the noises coming out of Labour now are reminiscent of 1930s Germany, or communist Russia.

  Labour is only the second British political party to ever be referred to the EHRC (Equality & Human Rights Commission) for antisemitism/racism. The first party was the BNP - an overtly, explicitly fascist outfit! Labour is now the most prominent party of antisemitism in the UK. It’s so deeply ingrained in the organisation that it will take a generational shift to remove it, at least.

  It’s such a significant issue that it has actually relegated their economic incompetence to second place in the hierarchy of concern, which is truly remarkable.

  I notice that even the right-wing Tory press had to admit that this was a very hastily written and biased account. It is a simple hatchet job, badly researched and badly written.

  @caesar963 Don’t be so naive. The anti-semitism slurs are made by a right-wing press and largely consist of online abuse that is notoriously difficult to attribute.

  Corbyn has spent his entire political life fighting racism and prejudice of every kind. He was protesting for the freedom of Mandela when Thatcher wanted him to remain in prison. Hardly a profile of an antisemite.

  Hey, jones. It’s hardly naive when so many Labour members and MPs are so appalled at the antisemitism of their own party and leadership. Jewish Labour MPs are the targets of Momentum and internal campaigns of harassment and abuse. Corbyn’s senior hierarchy has been repeatedly recorded making odious antisemitic remarks and indulging in the typical, disgusting conspiracy theories, with the hated Jew as the convenient master-manipulator of all evil. We all have the example of history before us.

  Corbyn personally endorsed a revolting antisemitic mural that depicted the standard antisemitic tropes and stereotypes which were the stock-in-trade of Julius Streicher’s ‘Der Stürmer’ publication during the height of the Nazi regime.
  His sympathy for, and clear failure to condemn, terrorist groups which have targeted and murdered Jewish people is extremely disturbing and a standing moral indictment of the man (the old “I’m not a criminal myself, you understand, but I do seem to find myself frequently in the company of criminals, for some unaccountable reason”).

  Even the decidedly left-wing press (Guardian, et al) have been enormously critical of Corbyn and his cronies for their antisemitism/racism and misogyny. Many decent people are so dismayed that they have been driven to leave the party - to the sole benefit of the racist extremists, of course.
  “Oh, Jeremy Corbyn” indeed.

  Jezza was, as is, superb - and not remotely antisemitic: resisting Israeli terrorism is the right thing to do, so Hamas have their part to play (after all, Israel created and funded them - go figure)
